Pets are family, too.
they also deserve to be protected from domestic abuse
When a man or woman is planning to leave a violent relationship, there are many reasons why a shelter is a safe option. It may not be safe to stay with friends or family members because the abusive partner is aware of these locations. Or, the victim has become so isolated from a support network that there is no place else to go for help.
Studies have shown that animal cruelty is usually linked to households with domestic abuse, and often individuals are reluctant to leave a violent situation because of concern for their pet.
At Noah’s Rest, our mission is to arrange safe, temporary shelter for pets of victims of domestic violence, so no one is forced to choose between abandoning a beloved pet and staying in an abusive relationship.
